We are a Medicare Bulk Billing Practice

From Monday 9 November 2026, Healesville Medical Centre bulk bills all eligible GP services for patients with a valid Medicare card.

That means no out-of-pocket cost for your consultation.

This applies to all Medicare-eligible patients, including adults, children, pensioners, concession card holders and DVA patients.

What is bulk billed

Bulk billing covers all eligible GP consultations, including:

  • Standard, long and extended GP consultations, including skin checks
  • Telehealth consultations
  • Health assessments, including the 45–49 year old and 75+ health assessments
  • Chronic disease management and care plans
  • Mental health treatment plans and reviews
  • Face to face consultation available at our Healesville Medical Centre

Please bring your Medicare card, or have your digital Medicare card in the Express Plus Medicare app, to every appointment.

Services that attract a fee

Some services are not covered by Medicare, or fall outside bulk billing, and attract a private fee. These include:

  • Some procedures, such as removal of skin lesions, biopsies and other minor procedures
  • Iron infusion appointments
  • Vaccines that are not funded by the government or the PBS (for example, some travel vaccines). Where a fee applies, it covers the cost of the vaccine only.
  • Medicals and reports not covered by Medicare, such as insurance, pre-employment, driver’s licence and fitness-to-work medicals
  • Forms, letters and certificates not related to a medical consultation
  • Some specialised consultations and private services

We will always tell you about any cost before your appointment or procedure, so you can make an informed decision.

Iron infusions

  • If your GP recommends an iron infusion, your initial consultation to assess your iron levels and arrange the prescription is bulk billed.
  • The iron infusion appointment itself is a private service and is not claimable through Medicare. The fee covers the nurse and doctor time, monitoring and the medical supplies needed for the infusion. You will need to collect your iron medication from a pharmacy using the prescription provided and bring it to your appointment.
  • Please allow around [60] minutes for your infusion appointment. Our team will confirm the fee when you book.

Patients without Medicare

  • Patients without a valid Medicare card, including overseas visitors and international students, are charged a private fee. Please let reception know when booking. If you hold overseas health insurance, we can provide an itemised receipt for your claim.
  • Visitors from countries with a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement with Australia may be eligible for Medicare. Please bring your passport and Medicare card to your appointment.
